The idea of Gemz has been around for over 7 years now. As I finished my jewellery design studies, hair jewellery seemed like a field that has not been very explored yet, in a modern and high quality way.  My own heritage (Cameroonian and Syrian father and German mother) led me to wear braids and cornrows and understand how essential hair is in so many cultures around the world, but I couldn't find any jewellery to adorn them with that would actually honour and celebrate it in the right way. So, after many trials and samples, I finally launched GEMZ in May 2023. Exploring hair jewellery and hair adornment, understanding symbols and their heritage, and creating pieces that serve both as decoration but also protection is what Gemz is about. Like your story, these pieces will be passed on to the next generation.
